HC lawyer files case against Sania for insulting tricolour
Tirupati, Jan 8 (UNI) A High Court advocate has filed a case against Sania Mirza for allegedly ''dishonouring'' the National flag during the Hopman Cup in Australia on January one.
Advocate Kuthumbaka Ramesh had filed the case in the III Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate (AJFCM) here under section 200 of CrPC for offences punishable under section 2 of the Prevention of Insult to the National Honour Act, 1971, yesterday.
Talking to UNI, Mr Ramesh said under its provisions, she was liable for punishment for three years or fine or both, if her offence was proved.
The editors of two leading Telugu dailies, 'Eenadu' and 'Andhra Jyothi', which had published the photographs that showed Sania ''dishonouring'' the flag, were the witnesses in the case, the advocate said.
