Five interstate dacoit gang arrested in Mysore dist.

Mysore, Jan 8(UNI) The District Police have arrested five members of a inter-state dacoits gang involved in murder, robbery and dacoity, near K R Nagar in the district early hours today.

Speaking to newsmen, Mysore district Superintdent of Police Ramasubba said that the gang was nabbed while they were attempting to attack a petrol bunk at Byari village.

The arrested had been identifed as Chaya (Ravi) 27, Ananda(25), Basavara(45) Bijja (62) and Kissa (18). They belong to a nomad community hailing from various parts of the state.

He said the investigation revealed the gang consisted of five more persons who belonged from Andhra Pradesh divided into two groups and committed crimes on national highways.

Their modus operandi was to attack highway dabas, where the lorry drivers took rest, with the sharp weapons and rob them.

So far, this group was involved in six murders and more than six petrol bunks dacoity cases in Chitradurga, Belgaum, Hassan, Mysore districts in Karnataka and Kadapa, Ananthapur, Chittor, Nellore and Guntur in Andhra Pradesh.

Police have also seized weapons used by them and investigation is on.
