New Delhi, Jan 8 (UNI) The Delhi BJP today demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident of vehicle burning in the Krishna Nagar areas, saying it was a ''terrorist act'' aimed at instilling fear among the people.
In a letter to Home Minister Shivraj Patil, BJP Delhi Pradesh chief Harsh Vardhan urged him to order the CBI probe into last night's incident and demanded compensation for the people whose vehicles were burnt.
''More than two dozen private vehicles were set afire last night in the areas under Krishna Nagar assembly seat -- Jagat Puri, Priti Vihar, Gagan Vihar, Jitar Nagar, Car Market, Gagan Vihar Road of East Delhi...Property worth lakhs of rupees was lost in this incident,'' he said.
Dr Vardhan, who represents the Krishna Nagar seat in the assembly, inspected the affected areas this morning and claimed that it was not an ordinary incident of fire but was the handiwork of terrorists.
''Delhi is becoming the centre of terrorists due to the negligence of the Home Ministry, the Delhi Government, the Delhi Police and the Intelligence agencies. More than five lakh illegal Bangladeshi citizens live in Delhi due to the connivance of the Government and the police.'' The BJP Pradesh chief said the people whose vehicles were burnt included Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs. ''This crime has not been committed to spread communal tension but to create terror among the people.'' UNI RR SB BD2131
