12-hour NH bandh begins in Nagaland
Kohima, Jan 8 (UNI) The 12-hour National Highway bandh, called by three non-Congress youth wings of Nagaland, began here at 0600 hours today.
Official sources here said that there was no vehicular traffic on National Highways 39 and 61, following the bandh called by students' wings of Nagaland Peoples' Front(NPF), NCP and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha(BHYM).
Police and security forces were on high alert to thwart any untoward incident during the bandh, sources said. However, the towns and other areas remained calm with government offices, educational institutions, banks and other public organisations functioning smoothly.
All emergency and daily services were exempted from the purview of the bandh.
