Sena wants 'permit system' in all big cities
Mumbai, Jan 7 (UNI) While appreciating Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's initiative in introducing identity cards in the state, Shiv Sena mouthpiece ''Saamna'' said such an initiative should be launched in all the big cities for the security of the country.
The Shiv Sena, incidentally, has been advocating a ''permit system'' in country's financial capital since the last three decades.
Entitled ''Delhi sarkarche abhinandan, Vilasrao Dhada ghya (Congratulations to the Delhi government, Vilasrao take a lesson)'', the Saamna editorial wanted to know when the Delhi experiment would be tried out in Mumbai.
The editorial noted that similar permit systems existed in Russia and in the cities of Shanghai and Beijing in China.
Quoting supercop J F Ribeiro, the editorial said the crime rate in Mumbai had increased due to heavy influx of people. The editorial also advocated for compulsory family planning for minorities.
