Chennai, Jan 7 (UNI) Its official now. Superstar Rajnikant and Showman of Tamil films Director Shankar are teaming up again for the much-talked about film 'Robot', after the runaway success of their latest flick 'Sivaji-the Boss'.
London-based Ayngaran International and Eros Multimedia announced that the matinee idol, Shankar and celebrated Music Director A R Rahman were once again coming together for the new film 'Robot', to be jointly produced by the two companies.
''Robot will be the most grand and entertaining film ever made in Indian cinema and will be produced in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and other languages,'' Ayngaran and Eros announced in a joint release here.
It would be a high-tech film with state-of-the-art technology and Shankar was finalising the technicians for the film, which would be announced shortly, the release said.
Pegged at Rs 100 crore, 'Robot', a science fiction film, would see Rajni replacing King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan as hero. Robot would be released in five languages for a global audience.
This dream project of Shankar was also to be produced by SRK's Red Chillies Entertainment. However, owing to differences between Shankar and SRK on the creative front, as acknowledged by the latter in recent statements, the film was dropped about two months ago.
