New Delhi, Jan 7 (UNI) A builder, who murdered an innocent woman to frame the brother of his fiancee who opposed the alliance after their marriage plans fell through, has been arrested, police said.
Surender Bhola had murdered a housemaid in Malviya Nagar, and planted on her body documents suggesting that his fiancee's Abhishek Gujral was sexually blackmailing the woman.
The body of the maid, bearing strangulation marks and head injuries, was found packed in a plastic bag near the Tughlaqabad Fort on December 29. Police recovered a copy of a police complaint pertaining to Abhishek and two letters -- addressed to the Delhi Police Commissioner and the star of a popular TV detective serial -- about his attempts to sexually molest her and taking nude photographs of her, from her undergarments.
Abhishek was interrogated but emphatically denied filing the complaint or knowing the murdered woman.
However, after sustained investigation, police zeroed on Bhola, who had given a loan of Rs five lakhs to the Gujral family and had been promised Abhishek's sister in marriage. However, despite both developing a liking for each other, differences had developed and ultimately she had been married to someone else.
On interrogation, Bhola confessed to the crime, which had been committed with the assistance of his servant, Sarwan, currently absconding. They had called the maid to an abandoned shop in Malviya Nagar, and strangulated her. The false documents were planted on her body to implicate Abhishek.
Police have seized the length of electric wire used for the crime and the vehicle used to dump the body. Search for the absconding servant was on.
