HC asks Today Homes officials to approach Ludhiana court

Chandigarh, Jan 7 (UNI) Punjab and Haryana High Court today directed the director and manager of New Delhi-based Today Homes costruction company to approach the Special Judge, Ludhiana for bail in the Ludhiana City Centre scam case, the chargesheet of which had already been filed by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau.

The order was issued by Justice Mahesh Grover after preliminary hearing on the bail plea of the two accused- Vinay Subhiki and Sunil Sharma in the scam. They were on bail which same ended after the filing of the chargesheet in the court of Special Judgem, Ludhiana.

Justice Grover further directed the Special Judge, Ludhiana to decide the bail issue within three days. The Judge also orderd that the Special Judge should keep in mind the Supreme Court decision in granting absolute bail to G K Gambhir, managing director of the Today Homes which had been awarded the contract for construction of the City Centre project of the Ludhiana Improvement Trust.

The vigilance bureau had registered the case on March 23, 2007 at Ludhiana for alleged kickback in the award of contract and former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh is among the accused.

The court also directed that in the event of rejection of their bail plea, the petitioners are not to be arrested for seven days.
