Congress will come to power in next elections: Kharge
Hassan, Karnataka, Jan 7 (UNI) Congress will come back to power in Karnataka with an overwhelming majority, state unit President Mallikarjuna Kharge asserted here today.
Addressing a public meeting at party's campaign program 'Janandholana', he said that the people of Hassan district will put an end to the 'opportunistic politics' of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, who belongs to the district, in the next elections.
Coming down heavily against the previous JD(S)-BJP coalition government in the state, Mr Kharge alleged that during 20-month's rule all pro-people programmes initiated by Congress were neglected.
"Due to indifferent attitude by JD(S)-BJP coalition government, all the central schemes and developmental packages announced by UPA government was not implemented properly," he charged.
He said during the coalition regime only certain constituencies received attention while rest of the state was kept out from the process of development.
Urging the Congressmen to shed their differences and work in unison in the coming elections, he reminded them that Congress had suffered political setback in Hassan district not due to popularity of other parties but because of infighting in Congress.
Former Karnataka Chief minister N Dharam Singh, Union minister for state for planning M V Rajashekharan, Lok Sabha member Ambareesh, former Union minister Mr C M Ibrahim, former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sidharamaiah also addressed the meeting.
