Cong can't conspire against Mayawati: Digvijay
New Delhi, Jan 7 (UNI) The Congress today rejected Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati's charge that some of its leaders were conspiring to eliminate her, stating that it can never be part of such a criminal threat.
''I am unable to understand why is she levelling such charges.
She has the entire police force of Uttar Pradesh with her. She also has commandos,'' AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh told reporters.
Mr Singh, who is in charge of party affairs in UP, said the UPA government would never be part of such conspiracies.
Earlier in the day, Ms Mayawati had charged that some Congress leaders were patronising expelled BSP MP Atiq Ahmed whom she dubbed as ''mafia.'' She also accused the UPA of following the NDA government's tactics of harassing her by filing fake cases.
