Seven killed, 10 wounded in Central Delhi slum fire
New Delhi, Jan 6 (UNI) At least seven people were charred to death and 10 others critically wounded when a devastating fire swept through a slum cluster in Central Delhi midnight last night.
A fire services official today said the blaze erupted in the jhuggi cluster near Sadar Bazar railway station on the Lahori Gate side at around 0230 hrs.
Hundreds of people were rendered homeless as more than 350 jhuggis were gutted in the fire.
The official said the fire services personnel later recovered seven bodies, which were completely charred.
He said ten other people were critically wounded in the fire and they have been hospitalised.
Several fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fast spreading flames.
The cause of the fire was being ascertained.
