Haryana leads in implementation of PMGSY

Chandigarh, Jan 6 (UNI) Haryana has been rated in 'Very Good' category throughout the country under all components in implementing Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) under Bharat Nirman Programme and the state government had received a sum of Rs 450 crore under phase-VII projects of the PMGSY.

While stating this here today, PWD(B&R) Minister, Capt Ajay Singh Yadav said that in respect of implementation for PMGSY phase-VII projects as many as 108 roads had been sanctioned under the scheme, the tenders for 74 roads had already been received and the work had been awarded. He said for the remaining roads, tenders process was on.

Capt Yadav said to make the tender process transparent, a new e-tendering system had been implemented by the department for procuring all contracts under PMGSY phase-VII. He said that a sum of Rs 70 crore would be given by the government to meet the excess cost of phase V and VI works.

He said that the work of phase V and VI were near completion and the performance of the state government on these works had been commended by Union Ministry of Rural Development. He said that Haryana was the best performing state as far as PMGSY was concerned.

The Minister said the only other state that had been clubbed with Haryana in 'very good' category was Rajasthan. He clarified that in respect of achievement of physical and financial targets, Haryana's performance is rated better than Rajasthan.
