Gagandeep nets seven for Chandigarh in school games hockey

Chandigarh, Jan 6 (UNI) Hosts Chandigarh maintained their winning spree as they outclassed Andhra Pradesh by a thumping 21-1 margin in the boys Under-17 hockey match in the 53rd National School Games being organised by the Chandigarh Education Department at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium here today.

The highlight of the match was seven goals, including two hat-tricks by Gagandeep. Damndeep contributed five goals for the winners.

In another one-sided match Punjab routed Chhattisgarh by 7-0 at the Government Model Senior Secondary School ground in Sector 37.

Bhupinder Singh converted a penalty corner to give Punjab the lead in the fifth minute. Deepak Kumar (2st, 47th minutes), Manjinder Singh (27th, Kawar Deep (40th, 50th) and Manjinder Singh (58th) were the other winners scorers.

Other results: Hockey (Girls): Punjab bt Karnataka by 3-0, Chandigarh bt Tamil Nadu 11-0, Haryana bt Rajasthan 15-0, Maharashtra and Kerela goalless, MP bt Chhattisgarh 5-0 , Uttaranchal bt AP 3-1, UP bt Delhi 7-2, HP bt Orissa 3-2 and Haryana drew MP 2-2.

Boys: Haryana bt IPSC 4-1, Orissa bt Kerala 12-1, Karnataka bt Tripura 5-0, UP bt Kerela 9-0, Maharashtra bt Rajasthan 6-3, Delhi drew MP 1-1, Tamil Nadu bt Tripura5-0, Karnataka bt IPSC 3-1, Orissa bt Kerela12-1, UP bt Maharashtra 6-1, MP bt Uttrakhand 5-2, Delhi bt Chhattisgarh 6-0.

Softball: Boys U-14: Punjab bt UP 11-0, Delhi bt Haryana 10-0, Maharashtra bt AP 6-2, Maharashtra bt MP 2-0. Boys U-17: Delhi bt Rajasthan 10-5, MP bt Chhattisgarh 4-3, Punjab bt Haryana 12-0.

Boys U-19: Chandiagrh bt J&K 17-0, Delhi bt Rajasthan 8-0, Punjab bt Vidya Bharti 16-0, Gujarat bt UP 11-0, Kerela bt Chhattisgarh 6-0, MP bt Rajasthan 10-6, Punjab bt Rajasthan 10-0 and AP drew Maharashtra 7-7.
