Lucknow, Jan 6 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) today categorically denied that the Brahmin Bhai Chara committee was dissolved by party chief Mayawati on Friday.
The BSP maintained that Brahmin was a 'necessary component' of the party and there is no question of its parting away from the party which now caters to the 'Sarva Samaj' ideology.
However, the party admitted that all other Bhai-chara committees of other castes from the divisional level to assembly segments have been dissolved.
Addressing a press conference here, BSP's eastern UP in-charge Om Prakash Tripathi said the Brahmin Bhai-Chara committee had already been merged with the BSP organisation after the assembly polls.
'' When the Brahmin committee has been merged, how can it be dissolved'', he said.
Dr Tripathi, chairman of the UP State Council of Educational Research and Training, said in Friday's meeting Ms Mayawati had set up four zones dividing the entire state with two senior leaders being appointed in-charge of each zone.
He said the bhai-chara committees of all other castes have been dissolved and new committee would be constituted after assessing the performance of the members.
A practising MBBS doctor, who joined the BSP in 2001, Dr Tripathi said now Brahmins were an intregal part of the party and it will continue to remain the same in future.
