Kochi, Jan 6 (UNI) Binodkumar Yadav of D A V Public School in Ranchi leaped to glory as he shattered the seven-year-old record in the boys under-14 long jump with an effort of 6.21m at the ongoing 12th CBSE National Athletics Championship-2008 here, in which three meet records were broken today.
Yadav broke Hira Singh's record 6.09m, set in 2001.
Ranjeet Kumar of N E Railway Sr SS, Gorakpur came second with 6m and Maibam Jogmani Singh took the third place with 5.76m.
In the under-19 boys 5,000m final, Dineshkumar Patel of Swami Harsewanand School entered into the record books by bettering the record of Rakesh Rohila's 16:13s.
He clocked 16:4s in the race, in which Brijesh Patel of HR SS, Bhopal and Karamjit Singh of S R T Dav School, Bilga came second and third with 16:41s and 17:55s respectively.
Ravi Varma of Army School, Rookee in the 200m for boys under-14 created a meet record with an effort of 24.46s. Maibam Jogamani Singh of St John's International Residential School came second and Ajaykumar Singh took third place in the event.
After the completion of third day's events, defending overall champion, Labour India Public School, Kottayam, was leading with 94 points followed by SBOA School&Junior College, Chennai with 43 points and St Xavier's School, Shahbad with 28 points. Abu Dhabi Indian School with 27 points and Indian Community School, Kuwait, with 26 points were in the fifth and sixth positions respectively.
