Mangalore, Jan 5 (UNI) Police today raided a lodge in the city and arrested two Sri Lankan Tamilians having connection with LTTE and seized fake passport and Rs three lakh worth jewellery from them.
Police said that on getting information raided the lodge in the city and arrested Bala Ruban alias Ruban alias Kadirvelu Gunaselvan (22) from North Sri Lanka and Nallatambi Jayasheelan alias Sheelan from North Jafna both residing in Bangalore.
During the raid, the police seized 11 credit and debit cards of different banks, jewellery worth Rs three lakh and fake passport in the name of Gunaselvan.
On interrogation the arrested confessed that a Sri Lanka based another Tamilian had given them the fake credit cards to sell them and purchase jewellery for which they were promised with suitable commission. The arrested have said that they have sold credit cards and purchased jewellery in Karkala and Mangalore.
Police also suspect that they were part of the international fake credit card network. The fake credit cards were prepared at Chennai.
Kadirvelu had come to Chennai from Sri Lanka during June 2004 whereas Jayasheelan had come to Bangalore during January. Who have collided with another Sri Lankan Tamilian.
Preliminary investigation had revealed that the jewellery had been purchased to collect the money for LTTE fund. The mobile phone used by the culprits has also shown that they had contact with persons in several other countries.
The culprits used device to get information from the software of those businessmen having credit cards and preparing fake credit cards to sell them and purchase jewellery, the police added.
