Thousands take part in Centenary Run of Tata Steel

Jamshedpur, Jan 5 (UNI) Braving the chill about ten thousand people from all walks of life took part in the Centenary Run on the concluding day of steel major Tata Steel's four-day Centenary celebrations ''Satrang'' here today.

Former sprint queen P T Usha, ace moutaineer Bachendri Pal world record holder archer Dola Banerjee, body builder former 'Mr Universe' and an ex-Tata Steel employee Premchand Dogra and a host of other sports personalites were among those who ran to mark the occasion.

Jharkhand Deputy Chief Minister Sudhir Mahto flagged off the run in presence of Tata Steel Managing Director B Muthuraman and other top officials of the company at J R D Tata sports complex this morning.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Mathto said it was a glorious day for not only to Tata Steel but for the whole country that the steel major had completed its hundred years of existence.

P T Usha and Bachendri Pal also congratulated Tata Steel for completion of hundred years.

Apart from the sports persons, 5000 school children from 40 educational institutions of the steel city here and even many physically challenged boys and girls ran to make the celebrations a grand success.
