Delhi, Jan 5: Dempo moved two points clear at the top of the I-League after handing out a 4-0 trouncing to Viva Kerala at the Nehru Stadium in Goa.
The reigning Indian league champions, who trailed a point behind JCT at the start of play, took the lead against the promoted side when defender Valerino Rebello opened the scoring in the 34th minute. The visitors remained in the game until just after the hour mark when two goals in as many minutes by Nigerian forward Ranty Martins Soleye and Clifford Gonsalves helped Dempo to pull away. Brazilian striker Roberto Silva then rounded off the scoring in the 70th minute to put the Goa outfit back into first place in the league.
JCT were surprisingly held to a 3-3 draw by bottom side Salgaocar on Thursday.
