New Delhi, Jan 5 (UNI) The BJP may be spitting fire at Dr S C Jamir for his 'partisan role' in handling the crisis in Goa but the RSS, the ideological big brother, is showering praises on him for charting the Naga society by his 'all inclusive approach,' braving at least half a dozen attacks on his life.
Dedicating a full special page on the role of Dr Jamir the Organiser, the RSS mouthpiece recalled how as Chief Minister of troubled Nagaland, he had dealt with the security problems faced by the Central Government employees in the state in the turbulent 90s.
In 2004, when the office bearers of Hindu Mandir Society invited him to grace 'Ram Katha Utsav' in Kohima, after a detailed inquiry about the activities of the society and the identities of the hosts, he accepted the invitation after two or three days.
The meeting was attended by the then Governor Shyamal Dutta, all the former chief ministers -- J B Jasokie, Dr Hokishe Sema and Mr Vizol along with senior political leaders attended the meeting gracing the occasion that turned out to be a grand event where one third of the audience was from Naga society.
His speech on the occasion was encouraging change to bridge the gap between Nagas and non-Nagas.
''Some fanatics later questioned his Christian faith, but he preferred to remail silent,'' Mr Jagadamba Mall, an observer of Naga society since mid 70s wrote. With the assassination of dozens of geniuses of Nagas by their own people, the community now starves of intellectual class who can match geniuses of international stature.
''The last attack on Dr Jamir was in November 2007. God knows what happens to him tomorrow. I admire him not for any other reasons but for his wisdom, all embracing behaviour and contribution to Naga society and the country risking his own life,'' the author wrote.
