Police officer shot at in West Bengal
Purulia, Jan 4: The officer-in-charge of Kotshila police station was shot at by unidentified miscreants at Mohanpur village in the district.
According to police sources the incident occurred when the OC Ramesh Hazra along with one constable was on routine patrolling while, a group of six people on motor cycle arrived at the spot and fired on the former. Two bullets hit the leg of the OC, who was admitted to Kotshila hospital. The constlable was, however, escaped unhurt.
The reason behind this attack could not be ascertained yet.Senior police officials including additional SP Pranab Kumar Das rushed to the hospital.
A manhunt was launched in the incident spot, sources added.
