Petition against CM quashed
Ujjain, Jan 5 (UNI) A local court today quashed a petition against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for allegedly having a discussion with an accused in Professor H S Sabharwal's murder during his visit to a hospital in Indore.
After hearing arguments from both sides, Judge Jagdeesh Chand Baheti said the Chief Minister could visit any place anytime and this would not amount to violating the Jail Act or any other rule.
Judge Baheti delivered the verdict as District and Sessions Judge Girish Kumar Sharma was on leave.
Local resident Rajesh Vyas had filed a petition alleging that Mr Chouhan had met Mr Vimal Tomar, one of the accused of murdering Prof Sabharwal during his visit to Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital in Indore.
Prof Sabharwal was killed when he was allegedly beaten up by students irked over postponement of student union elections.
