LU VC suspends 19 teachers, executive engineer

Lucknow, Jan 5 (UNI) Lucknow University vice chancellor R P Singh today suspended 19 teachers and an executive engineer for alleged indiscipline and other charges.

Addressing a news conference here this evening, Mr Singh said those suspended included Dr Anakshi Khare, Dr Anil Kumar Singh and Dr Arvind of the chemistry department.

Besides, Dr C P Singh of law faculty, Anil Kumar Shukla of education department, Vinod Singh of economics department, Pushpendra Mishra and Awdhesh Tripathi of commerce department, R B Singh and Jyoti Singh of physics department, Prof K K Rastogi of Arabic department, Dr Madhurima Lal of applied economics department, reader in persian department S A Ayubi and reader in physics department P Rath were suspended.

Other teachers include Aparna Godbole, Dr Kiran Lata Dangwal, Atul Saxena and Prof G S Bhadauria.

Besides, suspended executive engineer U B S Gautam of the construction department had allegedly committed financial irregularities amounting to several crores of rupees, the VC claimed.

Some of the suspended teachers were also accused in criminal cases.

Meanwhile, the LU Teachers Union and LU Employees Union have flayed the step taken by the VC.

LU Teachers Union president Dr Pushpendra Mishra said the outgoing VC was himself involved in corruption and had no right to suspend the teachers.
