Mumbai, Jan 5 (UNI) Mitul Pradeep, the daughter of late Hindi poet Kavi Pradeep, today lodged a complaint with the Mumbai Police alleging threat to her sister's and her own life.
Ms Mitul in her complaint, lodged with the Juhu Police Station, has stated that a person, Keshav Rai, has been repeatedly threatening the duo to pay Rs 50 lakh or else face dire consequences.
''Yesterday, I received a letter by post from Rai, in which he has demanded Rs 50 lakh and says that if I fail to pay up, he will kill me and my sister,'' Mitul told UNI over phone.
Ms Mitul said this was the third time that she had filed a complaint with the police as she had been receiving such threats continuously over the past one year.
''Unfortunately, neither the police nor the Government has cared to look into the matter,'' she said.
When contacted, a Juhu police official said they had taken cognizance of the complaint and launched a probe into the issue.
Ms Mitul, the eldest daughter of the late poet, is staying with her other family members in the Vile Parle suburb of Mumbai.
Kavi Pradeep is best remembered for his immortal song ''Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon'' which is said to have moved Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru to tears.
