BJP wants relief package for affected Gujaratis in Kenya
Ahmedabad, Jan 5 (UNI) The Gujarat BJP has asked UPA government at the Centre to come out with a relief package for the Gujaratis in trouble-torn Kenya, whose properties have been looted or destroyed in current unrest.
The BJP has asked the government to direct Indian banks in Kenya to give soft loans to Gujarati victims there.
In a resolution, passed at state BJP executive meeting in Koba near here, the party has condemned Central Government's ''laid-back attitude'' towards the plight of Indians in Kenya.
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had written two letters to the Union Government and drawn the Prime Minister's attention towards gravity of the situation. It is only then that the government woke up to the reality, the resolution has said.
The BJP has asked the Central Government to extend all help to Indians in Kenya and make arrangements to bring them back to India if required.
