Anup to face Vidyadhar, Saina takes on Sayali in finals

New Delhi, Jan 5 (UNI) J B S Vidyadhar created a major upset as he knocked out fancied and second seed P Kashyap in a nerve wrecking all Andhra semi-final to set up a title clash with top seed Anup Sridhar in the Rs 9-lakh prize money Pramod Mahajan All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament here today.

In the women section, top seed Saina had to battle it out against the third seed Aditi Mutatkar (Mah) to move into the final. Saina faces giant killer Sayali Gokhale in the summit clash.

Anup Sridhar overwhelmed fifth seed Arvind Bhat 21-19, 21-16 in a one sided semi-final. However, Vidyadhar shocked P Kashyap 22-20, 16-21, 21-15 in a nail biting second semi-final.

Saina Nehwal waged a grim battle before ousting Aditi Mutatkar 18-21, 21-13, 21-12 while Sayali Gokhale (AI), the dark horse of the tournament, beat Dhanya Nair (RLY) 18-11, 21-6, 21-18.

The finals are slated for tomorrow.

The winners in Men's and Women's Singles category will pocket Rs 1,10,000/- each, whereas the winners in both the doubles in men and women's sections will get Rs 60,000 each as prize money.
