Chennai, Jan 5 (UNI) The Opposition AIADMK today staged an agitation in Kancheepuram to protest the DMK government's alleged ''failure'' to tide over the crisis being faced by weavers in that district of Tamil Nadu.
The agitation was led by party Edapadi Organising Secretary K Palanisamy and party Kancheepuram West District Secretary and MLA K Hari.
The AIADMK workers alleged that the weavers were suffering from starvation as the DMK government could not ensure adequate price for the weaved items.
Besides, the government's failure to make available tissue from Surat to the weavers in Kancheepuram, disburse subsidy and provide free power connections, has hit the Industry and affected over 10,000 people, entirely depending on it,'' they alleged.
