USINPAC's annual business delegation embarks on its India visit

Bangalore, Jan 4 (UNI) To reinforce its mission to strengthen trade relations between India and the US, a delegation of the US-India Political Action Committee (USINPAC) has embarked on its fifth annual high-level delegation visit to the country.

USINPAC is a leading political organisation representing over two million Indian Americans on Capitol Hill and White House. The delegation consists of 20 CEOs of Indian origin heading companies in varied portfolio like IT, aviation, medicine and pharma sectors.

The visit is an annual feature meant to enhance cultural, strategic and business relations between the two countries.

"2007 will be noted as the watershed year, which saw unprecedented political activism by Indian American community. It is a very encouraging trend where we are seeing professionals and business entrepreneurs taking out more and more of their time and devoting themselves to social entrepreneurship building stronger political and business style between the US and India," USINPAC Founder Chairman Sanjay Puri told newspersons here today.

The delegation met business leaders like Kiran Mazumdar Shah CMD of largest Indian pharma company Biocon, Infosys non executive chairman N R Narayana Murthy, Microsoft India Chief Ravi Venkateshwaran and others, he said.

In the second leg of their visit, the delegation would be visiting New Delhi from Monday and meet political leaders including Union minister for Steel, fertilisers and chemicals Ram Vilas Paswan Paswan, Commerce minister Kamal Nath, Minister of state for defence Raj Inderjit Singh and BJP national President Rajnath Singh, MR Puri added.
