Transfer Prof Sabharwal murder case outside MP: Cong
New Delhi, Jan 4 (UNI) The Congress today demanded the transfer of Prof Sabharwal murder case outside Madhya Pradesh, charging Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan with directly supporting the accused.
''The Chief Minister has never made any bones regarding the innocence of the accused. This is a case of the state directly supporting the accused. Now the Chief Minister takes the unprecedented step of visiting the accused in hospital.
''The inspection story is a fig leaf and a pretence. Who will guard the state and its ordinary citizens from the guardians itself,'' AICC spokesman Abhishek Singhvi asked.
It was a case of fence eating the crop, he said, adding that the witnesses had already been bought over and threatened by both the state and the accused.
''Who will now give evidence? We demand transfer of the case outside MP. This is a blatant and active collusion between the state and the accused. It is a prosecution by the accused, for the accused, of the accused,'' Mr Singhvi told reporters.
The conduct of the state government and the ruling BJP in that state in the case was ''reprehensible, devious, opportunistic, collusive and it is designed to exculpate the accused,'' he said.
When Prof Sabharwal was brutally assaulted and killed, the direct involvement of the ABVP, RSS and BJP cadres was captured on candid cameras, the spokesman contended.
