Three arrested for smuggling timber in J
Jammu, Jan 4 (UNI) The police have arrested three people for smuggling timber in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said here today.
The sources said the police arrested the trio and recovered 14-deodar scants from their possession last evening while smuggling them from Pranoo in the Bhaderwah area.
''On specific information regarding smuggling of timber from Pranoo area, a special nakka was laid and a truck bearing a registration number JK02F-8657 was intercepted,'' the sources told UNI.
During search, 14 deodar scants were recovered by the police while all the three travelling in the truck were arrested, the sources said.
The accused have been identified as Abdul Hakim Bandey of Doda, Kushad Ali and Surjit Singh, both hailing from Pranoo.
A case had been registered in this connection and further investigations were on, the sources added.
