New Delhi, Jan 4 (UNI) The Supreme Court today adjourned by eight weeks the hearing of a petition seeking transfer of the trial in the Professor H S Sabharwal murder case outside Madhya Pradesh.

Himangshu Sabharwal, son of Prof Sabharwal, is seeking the transfer of the case outside the state as the accused in the case belong to the Student Wing of the ruling BJP in the state and the State Government and administration are reportedly sparing no efforts in shielding the culprits. The witnesses were also said to be intimidated and crucial evidence in the case was destroyed.

State Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan yesterday allegedly spent 25 minutes with one of the accused Vimal Tomar, who was admitted in ICU of a hospital.

A bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat and P Sathasivam adjourned the hearing after the the State pleaded for short adjournment.

Prof Sabharwal was beaten to death by ABVP activists after he cancelled the elections of the College Students Union in Ujjain in 2006.
