People should not encourage disruptive forces: Barnala
Chennai, Jan 4 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala today said people should uphold their unity and live in peace and harmony and leave no room for disruptive forces.
In his address at a function to felicitate Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, Prince of Arcot, organised by Tamil Nadu Shia Muslim Convention here, he said ''our democratic system is based on the principes of national unity, social Justice and secularism, which means respect for all faith and peaceful co-existence''.
Mr Barnala said different religious faiths were followed in our nation with utmost unity and respect. ''Whether we worship in the temple, pray in the mosque or kneel in the church, we culminate on the same goal'', he added.
Religious tolerance leads to creation of love and understanding of other religions, he said adding ''true knowledge of religion crosses all barriers between faith and faith brings about open mindedness and a spirit of brotherhood''.
