Injured Jankovic forfeits women's singles

Perth, Jan 4: Serbia's Jelena Jankovic will not play in the women's singles in Friday's Hopman Cup final against the United States because of injury.

The world number three suffered an injury to her right leg on Wednesday but battled through to help Serbia reach the final.Jankovic, who hurt her right thigh on Wednesday, was unable to complete her singles match on Thursday. The world number three sported heavy strapping on her thigh and although her movement appeared better than it was on Wednesday, she was still restricted. Jankovic will still play in the mixed doubles in the final, which opens with the men's singles match between Novak Djokovic and American Mardy Fish.
