Fierce encounter on in Kashmir, slit-throated body recovered
Srinagar, Jan 4 (UNI) A fierce encounter was on between militants and a security force search party while the slit-throated body of a man was recovered in the Kashmir valley today, official sources said here.
Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and 2 Para launched a joint operation at Khodi village in the frontier district of Kupwara today following a tip-off about the presence of militants, the sources said.
''During the operation, militants hiding in some houses, opened fire. The fire was returned by the security personnel,'' they added.
The slit-throated body of a 30-year-old man, identified as that of B A Rather, was recovered at Braripora in south Kashmir district of Kulgam. He was abducted by militants from his Kilbal house on November 26.
