New Delhi, Jan 4 (UNI) The Delhi Police today claimed to have solved a case of extortion and criminal threat by arresting two people in this connection.

A police spokesperson said the Samay Pur Badli police worked out the case by arresting Nitin Chauhan alias Sonu and Kamal Aggarwal alias Bunty.

He said Manohar Lal Bansal, an industrialist, reported on December 25 last year that he had received a threatening letter in case of non payment of ''protection money'' of Rs five lakh.

A case was registered and investigations taken up.

During the course of investigations, several people were subjected to sustained interrogation and it was revealed that Nitin had left the job in the complainant's factory some 15 days ago.

On questioning, he admitted to the crime, saying his father had to pay Rs 4.5 lakh for repurchase of the house before January 5 and they could not manage the money.

Accordingly, Nitin hatched a conspiracy with Ashok Kumar and Kamal to extort money from Mr Bansal and delivered a letter at the factory on December 23 last year and also made threatening calls to him.

Police swung into action and arrested Nitin at whose instance Kamal was also nabbed. Efforts were on to trace the third accused, the spokesperson said.
