Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Jan 4 (UNI) The Christian Baptist Churches of Northern Circars (CBCNC) will spend Rs 102 crore on renovation of schools and Rs 535 crore on development of hospitals run by it in seven northern coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing the press conference here today, CBCNC President M Rathnakara Rao and Education Convener Dasari Yacob said a facelift would be given to all the educational institutions and hospitals handed over to it by the Canadian Baptists Missionaries (CBM) after country's Independence.
''We are keen on developing the schools enlisting the support of Canadian Baptist Churches spread over 56 countries. We are assured of the required funding and the blueprint submitted for the works have been approved.'' The plans also include establishing a medical college at Pithapuram, an engineering college and a number of junior and degree colleges besides para-medical colleges in Kakinada.
''We have already constructed pucca buildings for 127 schools in Krishna District, replacing the thatched sheds,'' they said, adding a five-member Baptists Churches team from Canada would arrive next week to give final touches to the CBCNC institutions' development plan.
