Braille calender distributed as part of World Braille Day
Bangalore, Jan 4(UNI) IDL Foundation, a city-based NGO and the Press Club of Bangalore (PCB) today came together to commemorate World Braille Day.
The day is celebrated as a tribute to the genius of Louis Braille, the inventor of Braille, which revolutionised the lives of blind, deaf blind and visually impaired with his reading and writing system of six raised dots.
IDL and PCB distributed Braille Calender to visually challenged persons on the occasion.
Speaking to newspersons P K Paul, Executive Trustee of IDL said Braille was critically important to the lives of the blind. The ability to read and write in Braille opens the door to literacy, intellectual freedom, equal opportunity and personal security for those who were unable to read the printed script.
