AIADMK to organise stir tomorrow for weavers' cause
Chennai, Jan 4 (UNI) The Opposition AIADMK will stage an agitation in Kancheepuram tomorrow to condemn the DMK Government's ''failure'' to tide over the crisis being faced by weavers in that district.
AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa, in a statement here today, alleged that the weavers were facing starvation as the DMK Government could not ensure adequate price for their items.
Besides, the Government's ''failure'' to make available tissue from Surat to the weavers in Kancheepuram, disburse subsidy and provide free power connections had hit the industry, affecting over 10,000 people entirely dependent on it, she claimed.
Ms Jayalalithaa said the agitation would be led by party Edapadi Organising Secretary K Palanisamy and party Kancheepuram West District Secretary K Hari, MLA.
She appealed to the general public and weavers in particular to participate in the agitation.
