Woman attempts to end life, another kidnapped in Kashmir
Srinagar, Jan 3 (UNI) A woman attempted suicide while another was kidnapped in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said.
They said a woman Shameema, wife of Mohammad Iqbal Yatoo, set herself ablaze in her Peth Nambal residence last night.
She was admitted to the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) at Soura in a critical condition.
It was, however, not immediately known why she took such an extreme step, they said.
The trend of committing suicide in the Kashmir valley, particularly among women, has not declined even after Muslim ulemas issued a fatwa, declaring it unislamic.
The sources said a 27-year-old girl, daughter of Abdul Salam Lone, was kidnapped by some unidentified gunmen from her Kawbagh Nunner, Ganderbal, residence.
A massive hun t has been launched to trace the girl named Afroza, they added.
