State Government takes back land purchased by Rani in Shirdi
Ahmednagar, Jan 3 (UNI) In a set-back to Bollywood actor Rani Mukherjee, the Maharashtra Government today decided to take back the land which the actor had purchased to buy a house in the temple town of Shirdi.
''Her application, in which she had sought title of the land, has been rejected,'' Shirdi Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nandkumar Suryavanshi told UNI today.
Mr Suryavanshi said, ''The land has been taken back by the government. Rani's application to register her name on the 7/12 extract (land revenue record) has been rejected.'' The Sub-Divisional Magistrate's order also states that all the other names registered before the transaction have also been cleared from the record. An order has been passed to register the government's name on the records.
She had bought 11,000 sq ft land in 2005 from a local farmer Sampat More. However, she was unaware of the fact that the land in question was non-transferable as it was a government land that had been leased out to More.
