Samastipur, Jan 3 (UNI) All police stations in sensitive areas would be modernised and sophisticated firearms and communication system be made available to the police deputed to curb Naxal activities on the Indo-Nepal border.
''The step was taken in view of increasing threats from the CPI(Maoist) guerillas along that stretch in Bihar. The weapons provided include sophisticated firearms like AK-47 and AK-56 rifles,'' official sources here said.
Five new police stations and outposts will be opened in border districts and a proposal in this regard had already been sent to the state government, they said.
''District police superintendents had been directed to launch special drives to flush out the CPI(Maoists) guerillas from the area and also make arrangements to check the influx of Maoist activists from across the border,'' they added.
