Security to be beefed up on Indo-Nepal border
Gonda, Jan 3 (UNI) Security on the porous Indo-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh would be ramped up, following the fidayeen attack on the CRPF group centre in Rampur on January 1.
A meeting between the officials of both the countries is scheduled on January 5 in the Behraich district, in which the entry of terrorists into India through the Nepal border would be the main topic of discussion, sources said today.
Besides, ways to keep a check on terrorist activities would be discussed. Efforts were on to further strengthen the intelligence gathering network on the international border.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati had recently claimed that several terrorists had sneaked into the state through the Nepal border.
The Indo-Nepal border is being manned by the Shashastra Seema Bal (SSB), a central paramilitary outfit.
