Prezi expresses concern over increasing female foeticide
Hyderabad, Jan 3 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today expressed concern over increasing female foeticide, despite the Government taking stringent mesaures to curb it.
Inaugurating 'Arya Samaj International Conference', organised by Arya Pratinidhi Sabha here, Ms Pratibha said the foeticides were taking place in those hospitals which were technically advanced in the country. The reason behind the increasing female foeticides was the discrimination between the male and female and also denial of access to education to women, she added.
Calling on people and civil organisations to create awareness on the impact of female foeticides in the society, she stressed the need for providing free education to women.
She said women were also facing domestic violence and harassement at workplaces.
Stating that the dowry problem was also a major issue in the society, she said child labour, gender discrimination and other social evils would be rooted out from the society.
