Now watch Andaman Butterflies on Postal Stamps!

Port Blair, Jan 3: A set of four commemorative stamps on endemic species of butterflies, found only in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, has been released by India Post.

The set was presented to Lt Governor Bhopinder Singh by Director Postal Services, G Madhumita Das at an official function. The stamps were released yesterday by Minister of Communications and IT Thiru A Raja at Chennai on the inaugural day of the five-day National Philatelic Exhibition INPEX 2008.

The stamps, priced at Rs 5 each, depict the butterfly specie, commonly known as the Andaman Mormon and Andaman Clubtail. Along with the stamps a First Day Cover, miniature sheet, cancellation and four picture Post Cards (maxim cards) had also been brought out.

These stamps and Philatelic materials were made available for sale from the Philatelic Bureau, Port Blair Head Office from today, an official relase said.
