Lucknow, Jan 3 (UNI) Newly - elected Lok Sabha member from Ballia Neeraj Shekhar today said his win in the by-election was a death blow for the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government in Uttar Pradesh.

'' Despite ministers and BSP MLAs distributing money and liquor, the people of Ballia have shown the door to them,'' he claimed.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Shekhar, youngest son of former prime minister Chandrashekhar, maintained that Ballia has always led the ' political change' in the country and this time they have pronounced death blow to the BSP.

Thanking the people of Ballia for their support, he said the allegation of the BSP that fedual forces did not allow Dalits to vote in the bypoll showed their weakness. ''If their allegation is correct then, the Mayawati government should resign on moral grounds, for not providing security to the voters,'' he added.

The new SP MP said the BSP government tried its best to rig the polls through different means including camping of over two dozen ministers and 100 MLAs but the voters gave him their support by showing their love for his father.

He added that his father had always asked him to be in politics on his own capability and thanked SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav for continuing his support for the family.

'' SP was the only party which did not force me to join the party before the elections, while other parties made condition to fight the election on their symbol,'' he said, adding that it was his own decision to join the SP.
