Kolkata, Jan 3 (UNI) Mani Bhowmik Educational Foundation (MBEF) will set up an IT university near Eastern Bypass and the land transfer agreement between the state government and MBEF was signed here today in the presence of Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.
After signing the MoU, Mr Bhattacharjee told reporters that the IT university would be set up on 15 acres of lands purchased by MBEF at the price of Rs 4.76 crore.
He said 40 per cent special concession was given to MBEF for setting up the University.
Mr Bhattacherjee informed that the university would accomodate 500 residential students who would receive world class IT education and advance research facilities.
He said the university would also have arrangements for receiving IT education from different universities of the USA through Internet.
''Mr Mani Bhowmik is a famous scientist and we welcome his move for setting up the IT university where poor meritorious students will get preference,'' Mr Bhattacharjee maintained.
