Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 3 (UNI) Veteran leader K Karunakaran, who rejoined the Congress recently, today said he was hopeful of uniting all Congress workers in the state.
His remarks came after the meeting with Pradesh Congress president Ramesh Chennithala who had called on him at his residence here.
''I believe the Congress party could be strengthened,'' Mr Karunakaran told reporters.
The Congress was the only party that was most relevant in the future, he added.
Mr Chennithala said the advice of the Mr Karunakaran would be taken into account for strengthening the party. ''Mr Karunakaran rejoining the party would only strengthen it, he added.
Stating that the Congress was strong, Mr Chennithala said unity was the most important thing in the party.
Mr Karunakaran had returned to his parent organisation last week after snapping ties with it three years ago.
