India in touch with ethnic riot-hit Kenya: PM tells Modi
New Delhi, Jan 3 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said that the government is closely monitoring the situation in ethnic riots-hit Kenya and is in touch with the authorities and the people of Indian origin there in view of the problems faced by the Gujarati community.
Dr Singh has made the assurance to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi who had written letter to the Prime Minister.
He informed the Gujarat Chief Minister that he had asked the External Affairs Ministry to take immediate action to ensure the safety and security of the Indian community in Kenya.
The Indian High Commission in Kenya was in touch with the Indian origin community.
