Four naxals injured in encounter with police in Gadchiroli
Nagpur, Jan 3 (UNI) Four naxalites are suspected to have been injured in an encounter with the police in Gadchiroli district in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra today.
The encounter occurred when a patrol party was carrying out a combing operation in the jungles near village Kachaler in the district this afternoon. A group of 20 to 25 armed naxalites, lying in wait in the forest, allegedly opened fire at the patrol party, and the policemen returned the fire, a police said.
The exchange of fire lasted for 15 to 20 minutes, during which 4 naxalites sustained serious injuries. Later, the outlaws fled into the deep forest, taking their injured colleagues with them, the release said, adding that there were no casualties among the police.
The police later seized two rifles, a claymore mine, 50 ft of electric wire, a battery, a bag, a medicine kit and naxalite literature from the spot, it added.
