Bhopal, Jan 3 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Economic Offences Wing has registered a case against Congress leader and former minister Narendra Nahta and others for merging an engineering college, set up using government assistance, with a trust formed in the memory of Mr Nahta's father, a senior EOW official said today.
Other accused included Mr Nahta's relative Surendra Nahta and Ujjain's Firms and Societies Assistant Registrar Alok Nagar. Ujjain division's Mandsaur Institute of Technology received government assistance exceeding Rs three crore and 15 acres free land during Mr Nahta's ministerial tenure.
The accused allegedly furnished wrong information and fake documents to merge the college with Mandsaur's Bhanwarlal Nahta Memorial Trust. After receiving complaints, the government handed over the case to the EOW in September 2007. The EOW case was registered on December 31, 2007 after its Indore office submitted a report following a preliminary inquiry.
