Lingsugur, Karnataka, Jan 3 (UNI) BJP today said the agrarian crisis faced by the Indian farmers was the making of the Congress-led UPA government that had led to the suicide of more than 15,000 farmers during the last three-and-half years, party National President Rajnath Singh said here today.

Addressing a largely attended farmers convention here today, he described the Congress as a party that had failed on all fronts and was the root cause of all problems faced by the country. This included the terrorist activities and rising prices of essential goods, which was the result of the misrule of the UPA government at the Center.

"Prices of essentials, including the cooking gas had shot up during the rule of UPA, while farmers continued to commit suicide.

When this government ruled an affidavit is filed in the Apex court saying that Lord ram and epic Ramayana is nothing but myth and it was all fiction. Does anybody care for the sentiments of the Hindus in this country," he asked.

He said the truth behind Lord Rama of Ramayana may not have been proved scientifically but one should respect the faith of the Hindus, he said.

Predicting that the BJP would 'storm' to power at the centre and in Karnataka, Mr Singh assured that if the party was voted to power loans to farmers would be extended at an interest of four per cent per year interest in the entire country. "BJP is on a winning spree and it would win coming mid-term elections in Karnataka," he said.

Former Union Minister and party political incharge for Karnataka, Mr Yashwant Sinha, said BJP was a conventional party that stood for national development and welfare of the people and had provided the most farmer-friendly government in India. "We introduced Kisan Credit Cards, Gram Sadak Yojana and Bima Yojana schemes to help farmers," he said.

Ridiculing the former BJP ally Janata Dal(S), he said that party would disintegrate and only the letter 'S' would be left in the party which stood for the two 'sons' of party supremo H D Devegowda.

"Mr Kumaraswamy and Mr Revanna would be the only two that would be left in this party that had deceived the people of Karnataka," he said recalling the bringing down of one-week long BJP-led government in October.

BJP would fight it alone in the ensuing assembly in the state, he added.
